Abstract
Based on the WIOD database and WWYZ method,This paper calculates the global value chain participation index of 13 major manufacturing industries in China from 1995 to 2009,and analyzes the impact of embedding in GVC on the wage gap between different skilled labor from theoretical and empirical perspectives. It shows that the GVC index of China's manufacturing industry presents a rises first then falls trend with its turning point around 2006.The participation of China's manufacturing industry in GVC will expand the wage gap of different skilled labor. After introducing TFP as a mediating variable,we find transmission mechanism that China's manufacturing industry gains productivity improvement by participating in GVC and then expands wage gap between high and low skilled labor.
