Abstract
The impact of COVID-19 has been far-reaching, and anti-globalization sentiments are surging. As the global industrial and supply chains face reshaping, scientific and technological innovation has become a major battleground in the international strategic game. The technological innovation mode of a country's manufacturing enterprises often has an important impact on the competitiveness of technological commanding heights. In this paper,OFDI with different motivations is introduced into the enterprise innovation mode selection model, and the influence of OFDI motivation on enterprise choice of innovation mode is studied by using OFDI directory, industrial enterprise data and patent data. The results show that resource-seeking has no influence on innovation mode selection among OFDI firms. Business service enterprises will increase incremental innovation; Local manufacturing firms and technology-seeking firms will reduce incremental innovation and increase radical innovation.
