Abstract
This paper calculates Chinese provincial-level green total factor productivity(GTFP)by using the distance function of SBM direction and Malmquist-Luenberger productivity index from 2005 to 2020, and the influence of outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) on green total factor productivity is discussed based on spatial Durbin model. The research reveals that: During the sample period, GTFP has a positive spatial correlation. OFDI has a significant local promotion effect and a positive spatial spillover effect on GTFP. Based on regional heterogeneity, the positive spillover effect is found only in the eastern region, but not in the central and western regions. Therefore, the interaction between OFDI and “green competitiveness” and its spatial spillover effect should be fully considered to establish a spatial linkage mechanism for environmental protection. At the same time, we should give full play to the active leading role of the eastern region, increase the scale and quality of OFDI in the central and western regions, and achieve all-round green and sustainable development.
