Abstract

Under the background of pursuing green development and innovative economy, this paper uses the panel data of 115 resource-based cities from 2014 to 2020 to explore the impact of air pollution on regional innovation, and finds that air pollution has a significant negative impact on the level of urban innovation. After using the instrumental variable method to solve the endogenous problem, the absolute value of its regression coefficient becomes larger but still significantly negative; The classification regression of innovation subjects found that the negative regression result of air pollution on the innovation ability of enterprise innovation subjects was more robust; Further study the impact path of air pollution on regional innovation level, the results show that human capital plays a part of intermediary role; Finally, replace the main variables, add the eastern dummy variables and use the dynamic panel model to test that the results are still stable.
