Abstract

Digital transformation and green innovation are important paths to achieve high-quality economic and social development, and exploring how digital transformation drives green innovation has important research value. In the era of open innovation, both digital transformation and green innovation require sufficient knowledge. Enterprises not only need to fully utilize internal knowledge but also need to constantly cross boundaries to search for external knowledge. At the same time, culture is an important support for the development of enterprises, and organizational culture is an important factor for enterprises to improve their core competitiveness. Organizational environmental culture involves the values and behaviors on protecting the environment and guide enterprises to implement green measures to promote green development. Therefore, constructing the theoretical model of the impact of digital transformation on green innovation, the study empirically analyzes the impact of digital transformation on green innovation, and explores the mediating role of boundary-spanning search and the moderating role of organization environmental culture, revealing the path and boundary of digital transformation driving green innovation. Based on 335 questionnaire survey data, the empirical research results are as follows. Firstly, digital transformation has positive impact on technical knowledge boundary-spanning search, market knowledge boundary-spanning search, green process innovation and green product innovation. Secondly, the technical knowledge boundary-spanning search and market knowledge boundary-spanning search have positive impact on green process innovation and green product innovation. Thirdly, technical knowledge boundary-spanning search and market knowledge boundary-spanning search both play partial mediating role in the relationship between digital transformation and green process innovation, as well as digital transformation and green product innovation. Lastly, organization environmental culture plays positive moderating role between digital transformation and green process innovation, as well as digital transformation and green product innovation. The main contributions of the research are as follows. Firstly, the study focuses on building a beautiful China and explores the mechanism of digital transformation on green innovation based on digital perspective which can deepen the research on digital transformation and green innovation. Secondly, the study explores the mediating role of boundary-spanning search between digital transformation and green innovation, clarifies the transmission mechanism of boundary-spanning search between digital transformation and green innovation. It can reveal the role path of digital transformation to green innovation, and expand the value channels of digital transforma- tion in green innovation. Thirdly, the paper reveals that organizational environmental culture plays positive modera- ting role between digital transformation and green innovation, clarifies the boundary condition for the impact of digital transformation on green innovation, and enriches the theoretical extension for the impact of digital transformation and boundary-spanning search on green innovation. The study can provide some guidance for the practice of enterprise management. Firstly, enterprises should attach great importance to digital transformation and scientifically apply digital transformation to achieve green innovation. Secondly, enterprises should broaden their relationship networks and learn search methods, and carry out boundary-spanning search continuously. Thirdly, enterprises should actively build environment culture atmosphere and create good organizational environment culture.
