Abstract
Since entering the 21st century, China has put forward and implemented a series of regional development strategies aimed at narrowing the economic development gap between regions and has achieved great development achievements. However, at present, China??s regional coordinated development still faces some problems such as unreasonable allocation of resource factors and insufficient industrial coordination ability. To ensure China??s continuous and robust economic growth and preserve enduring social equilibrium, it is necessoary to address the imbalance in regional development and reducing the economic growth disparity between areas is essential. On the basis of traditional productivity, we are led by technological innovation, with new technologies, new economies and new business forms as the main content. They break away from traditional growth paths and are in line with high-quality economic development. It can lead the development of emerging industries and future industries, provide new momentum for economic growth, improve labor production efficiency, and promote industrial upgrading, and is an important force to promote regional coordinated development. Based on the above analysis, this paper attempts to construct an index system of new quality productivity from the level of prefecture-level cities, and his paper uses the dual fixed effect model to study the panel data of 271 prefecture-level cities in China from 2009 to 2022, and empirically investigates how the effect of quality productivity affects the gap in economic development across regions, and the mechanism role played by industrial structure upgrading, industrial structure upgrading and market integration. Furthermore, this paper also examines the impact of new quality productivity on regional economic disparity under different geographical locations and different economic development levels. The conclusions are as follows: First, the development of new quality productivity has a significant negative impact on the inter-regional economic development gap, which can effectively narrow the level of economic development gap between regions. However, under the influence of the difference of regional economic development level and surrounding areas, the negative impact of new quality productivity on inter-regional economic gap shows obvious regional differences and urban economic development level differences. Second, the new quality productivity will have a negative impact on the regional economic disparity by promoting the upgrading and rationalization of industrial structure. Third, the degree of market integration has a positive regulating effect in the process of the new quality productivity narrowing the regional economic disparity. Based on this, this paper puts forward the following suggestions: First, all regions ought to cultivate new quality productivity in line with their specific circumstances, and insist on enhancing the guiding role of new quality productivity in economic development, so as to promote regional coordinated development. Second, In the process of cultivating new high-quality productivity to promote the rationalization of industrial structure, highgrade development, and effectively play the role of both in the process of the new quality productivity to narrow the regional economic disparity. Third, accelerate the pace of building a unified large market, promote the integrated development of the market, and help the new quality productivity to narrow the regional economic gap.
